Rep. Deb Manjarrez named 2026 Representative of the Year by Washington State Narcotics Investigators Association

State Rep. Deb Manjarrez has been named the 2026 Representative of the Year by the Washington State Narcotics Investigators Association (WSNIA), recognizing her leadership in confronting Washington’s drug crisis and her ongoing work to support law enforcement and public health partnerships across the state.

The award highlights Manjarrez’s efforts during the 2026 legislative session to advance practical, data-driven solutions aimed at saving lives and improving coordination among first responders, public health professionals, and communities.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Washington State Narcotics Investigators Association,” said Manjarrez, R-Wapato. “Our state is facing a devastating drug crisis, and those on the front lines see the impact every day. We must do more to support their work and deliver real solutions that save lives and protect our communities.”

A key focus of Manjarrez’s work this session was House Bill 2168, legislation designed to establish a coordinated, statewide overdose mapping and response system. The proposal would have ensured real-time sharing of overdose data to help first responders act quickly, deploy resources where they are needed most, and connect individuals to treatment and recovery services.

The bill received strong bipartisan support, passing both chambers of the Legislature, but ultimately did not reach the governor’s desk before adjournment. Manjarrez has pledged to continue working with stakeholders to address concerns and move the policy forward.

In addition to her legislative efforts, Manjarrez serves on the state’s Substance Use Recovery Services Advisory Committee (SURSAC), where she works with stakeholders to evaluate policies and recommend improvements to Washington’s substance use disorder response system. Her work on the committee has focused on ensuring policies prioritize recovery, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

“This recognition reinforces the urgency of the work ahead,” Manjarrez added. “We cannot accept inaction while families across Washington continue to suffer. I will keep pushing for solutions that bring people into recovery, support our communities, and save lives.”

The Washington State Narcotics Investigators Association is a professional organization representing narcotics investigators and law enforcement personnel dedicated to combating illegal drug activity and strengthening public safety throughout Washington.
