Rep. Manjarrez talks with KIT radio about legislation combating the drug crisis and her focus on affordability issues

Rep. Deb Manjarrez, R-Wapato, talks with KIT Radio’s morning team about legislation she has sponsored to fight Washington state’s drug crisis, including HB 2168 – her overdose mapping information bill.

Manjarrez is also focusing on affordability. Her HB 2151  would make factory-built structures cheaper by streamlining standards and regulations. Her HB 2150, would require timely reporting of climate emissions data to get some transparency and accountability behind the reporting requirements. Washington citizens should not be paying for greenhouse gas emission reduction policies if they are not working.

Finally, the radio team and Manjarrez discussed the two citizen initiatives before the Legislature — one on fairness in girls’ sports and one on parents’ rights in public schools. Manjarrez believes they should get a public hearing. Instead, both the House and Senate majority leaders have indicated they won’t hold hearings, despite strong public support.
