Rep. Manjarrez leads House recognition of Presidents’ Day
The House of Representatives paused Monday to honor U.S. presidents during Presidents’ Day.
Rep. Deb Manjarrez, R-Wapato, urged legislators to adopt House Resolution 4618, which reflects on the leadership and service of those who have served as President of the United States.
In her first speech on the House floor, Manjarrez talked about the Declaration of Independence and how our Founding Fathers created a government of the people.
“It was called the Great American Experiment. Why? Because it had never been done before, with no king, no monarch, where democratic principles were going to be followed. Where it was a government by the people and for the people. Where the individual rights were going to be upheld,” said Manjarrez.
